Little Theatre Club, in partnership with G4G Africa, Sambasport Youths, and Mama Africa, illuminated Mombasa County with a mesmerizing mental health awareness event. Under the starlit sky, a captivating storytelling session unfolded, shedding light on the importance of using art to address societal issues, particularly the battle against mental illness.

Collins Mangicho, a beacon of wisdom, emphasized the power of storytelling as a game-changer in combating mental health challenges, with a focus on teenagers and youths, the most vulnerable in our community. His call to the county and national government to embrace ancient tactics like storytelling resonated deeply with the audience.

Mwanishi Kwania, representing Sambasport Youths, echoed the sentiment by supporting the move to ban Muguka in the region, urging society to extend a caring hand to their neighbors, recognizing that mental well-being starts at home.

Fiona Mwangangi, the voice of Mama Africa, passionately advocated for the inclusion of counseling and therapy sessions in schools, highlighting the impact of home dynamics on children's mental health. She urged parents to take up their responsibility in nurturing their children, emphasizing that the government alone cannot bear this crucial role.

As the Mental Health Month unfolds, the Little Theatre Club continues its noble mission, holding events monthly to raise awareness on various societal issues, including mental health. This third event serves as a beacon of hope, uniting the community in a shared journey towards better mental well-being.

During a press briefing earlier today, SOBA officials accused Mr. Mutiso of gross mismanagement and interference in ongoing investigations into his conduct. Speaking on behalf of SOBA, Dennis Ouna alleged that the principal has been using school resources to manipulate the outcome of investigations into his leadership. According to Ouna, Mr. Mutiso has compromised the Board of Management (BoM) and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), effectively turning them into rubber-stamp bodies. In a landmark move to integrate Islamic and Arabic languages into national vocational training, Sheikh Siraj Rahman College of Islamic Studies held a stakeholder meeting with TVET Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC) to chart the development of a curriculum for levels 3 to 6 — covering certificate and diploma programs. The meeting, which brought together educators, curriculum developers, and religious leaders, aimed to pave the way for the formal inclusion of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Arabic studies into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system. This is set to offer certified qualifications recognized by the Ministry of Education.
