115 Students from Bandari Maritime Academy's Big day

In a momentous gathering at the Bandari Maritime Academy, Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir, together with Hon. Hassan Ali Joho and Mvita MP Mohamed Soud Machele, presided over a significant milestone of the graduation of 115 young individuals with certificates in Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW).

Addressing the Audience, the county boss urged residents from Coast region to enroll to the maritime courses assuring them that bursaries will be paid on time. "I want to assure you that the job that has been done by this young man (Machele) will help so many youths in this area, I urge you to enroll, before the fee was about Ksh.35,000, today he's ensured to be ksh.15,000"

This event not only highlights the transformative efforts of the Mvita NG-CDF held and supervised by the area Mp Mohamed Soud Machele but also underscores their dedication to empowering the youth with essential skills for the global maritime industry.

Cabinet secretary for Blue economy and Mining Hon. Ali Hassan Joho instructed officials from KMA that they should make sure all Tvet schools in the coast region offers the maritime courses. "I hate repeating myself" lamented the Cs, "You can't tell me that there must be swimming pools for students to learn, you can partner with the institutions so that youths from this area get enough for their courses" Joho also called for coastal leaders to set aside their political differences and ensure they're working together for peace.

These new qualifications will open doors to job opportunities on shipping lines, further driving Mombasa’s vision as a hub for blue economy growth.

   Image;Shimo La Tewa, November 29, 2024 The Shimo La Tewa Old Boys Association (SOBA) has expressed deep disappointment in the management of their alma mater, calling for the immediate dismissal of the principal, Mr. Mathew Bindo Mutiso. During a press briefing earlier today, SOBA officials accused Mr. Mutiso of gross mismanagement and interference in ongoing investigations into his conduct. Speaking on behalf of SOBA, Dennis Ouna alleged that the principal has been using school resources to manipulate the outcome of investigations into his leadership. According to Ouna, Mr. Mutiso has compromised the Board of Management (BoM) and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), effectively turning them into rubber-stamp bodies. Islamic and Arabic Studies to Gain Ground in TVET Curriculum as Stakeholders Push for Recognition

In a landmark move to integrate Islamic and Arabic languages into national vocational training, Sheikh Siraj Rahman College of Islamic Studies held a stakeholder meeting with TVET Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC) to chart the development of a curriculum for levels 3 to 6 — covering certificate and diploma programs. The meeting, which brought together educators, curriculum developers, and religious leaders, aimed to pave the way for the formal inclusion of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Arabic studies into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system. This is set to offer certified qualifications recognized by the Ministry of Education.
