KPA Donates Food Worth Ksh 4.6M to Vulnerable Muslim Families in Mombasa

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has donated foodstuffs worth Ksh 4.6 million to vulnerable Muslim families in Mombasa County as part of its efforts to support communities during the holy month of Ramadhan.  
Speaking during the handover ceremony, KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto emphasized the importance of unity and lending a helping hand to those in need.  

"This is a time for compassion and togetherness. We must come together to support the less fortunate in our society. Everyone who has the ability should extend kindness to those in need," said Captain Ruto.  

He further announced that the initiative will continue in Lamu County, where KPA will distribute similar food supplies on Wednesday.  
Muslim religious leaders who attended the event expressed their gratitude for the donation, urging more organizations and individuals to support vulnerable groups, including orphans and people living with disabilities, during Ramadhan.  

"We sincerely appreciate this generous contribution. It is our hope that more well-wishers will step forward to help those struggling, especially during this sacred period," said one of the religious leaders.  

The donation comes as part of KPA's corporate social responsibility efforts to uplift communities, particularly during religious and festive seasons.

Islamic and Arabic Studies to Gain Ground in TVET Curriculum as Stakeholders Push for Recognition

In a landmark move to integrate Islamic and Arabic languages into national vocational training, Sheikh Siraj Rahman College of Islamic Studies held a stakeholder meeting with TVET Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC) to chart the development of a curriculum for levels 3 to 6 — covering certificate and diploma programs. The meeting, which brought together educators, curriculum developers, and religious leaders, aimed to pave the way for the formal inclusion of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Arabic studies into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system.
