51 Suspects Arrested in Kisauni as Authorities Intensify Crackdown on Criminal Gangs

In a major security operation aimed at curbing rising crime in Mombasa County, authorities arrested 51 suspects earlier today in Kisauni Subcounty. The crackdown targeted criminal gangs, popularly known as "Panga Boys", who have been terrorizing residents.  
According to a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the arrests took place across several hotspots, including Corner ya Kisauni, Jocham Hospital, Berisheba, Sunlight, Mwandani, Junda and Kadongo. 

Additionally, police seized five tuktuks believed to have been used in phone snatching and other street robberies. These vehicles are suspected to be key tools in the gang’s operations, enabling them to commit crimes and escape swiftly.  

The operation comes just days after tourists from Seychelles were attacked and robbed near Mapembe za Ndovu , raising concerns over safety in the region. The incident prompted security agencies to intensify efforts to dismantle organized criminal groups operating in the county.  
The arrested suspects are currently in custody at Mjambere Police Station,  awaiting court proceedings. Authorities have urged members of the public to come forward and assist in identifying offenders to aid in the ongoing investigation.  

Law enforcement agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to restoring security in Mombasa, warning that further operations will be conducted to weed out criminal elements.

In a landmark move to integrate Islamic and Arabic languages into national vocational training, Sheikh Siraj Rahman College of Islamic Studies held a stakeholder meeting with TVET Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC) to chart the development of a curriculum for levels 3 to 6 — covering certificate and diploma programs.
