The County Government of Mombasa has launched an urgent investigation into the deaths of four individuals in Migadini, Matangini Village, Changamwe Constituency, amid growing public concern over the unexplained fatalities. The Mombasa County Department of Health’s Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) issued a statement today detailing preliminary findings and urging residents to remain vigilant while maintaining calm.

According to the official statement, the deaths occurred between July 9 and July 14, 2025, involving individuals with pre-existing health conditions. On July 9, a 91-year-old woman passed away at home, reportedly suffering from a chronic illness in addition to old age. On July 14, three men—aged 57, 69, and 55—were found dead in their homes. The 57-year-old was under medical follow-up at Port-Reitz Sub-County Hospital for chronic conditions, while the 69-year-old was asthmatic, and the 55-year-old had recently been treated for dengue fever. Two of the bodies were found in the early stages of decomposition, indicating delays in discovery.

The remains of all four deceased individuals are currently preserved at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examinations to determine the exact causes of death. The County Health Department has stated that there is no evidence of an infectious disease outbreak at this stage, but investigations are ongoing to rule out any public health risks.
